Childhood Favourites Fanart~ The Powerpuff Girls

I love 90’s cartoons. Dexter’s Lab , Ed, Edd and Eddy, Johny Bravo and Courage the Cowardly Dog never missed me. I adored all of these shows and so much more. One of my favourites was the Powerpuff Girls. Super powered girls fighting crime and saving the day, what was there not to like. I got my little sister onto them last year, she was hooked. I, of course, also watched over a couple epsiodes shamelessy.

Naturally, Buttercup was my favourite because she was a tomboy and I was too, simple .

For the fanart I did them much older and in a semi-realistic style.

Bubbles was the last one I did and I like how she came out the best.  It was really fun to do all of these pieces.

Sketch Batch

Here are a few sketches I drew over the course of time I was away from the blog.

Sketches of the Week

Sketches of the Week

Been busy with some projects so no finished work for now but you’ll see some fanart  of Annie Mei and Rei from the artist CT Chrysler [more of his stuff  here and here] and some concept drawings of my character, “The Girl With the Sky In Her Hair”.

Yes, I know it’s the longest name ever. Not that long names are bad or anything . I mean Sparky Sparky Boom Man is a pretty popular name [talking about such, have you seen the Book Three Legend of Korra trailer as yet?] . I just haven’t found the perfect name yet but I’m sure I will.

Till then, bye and enjoy your week.

Girl With the Sky In Her Hair Sketch

Heya, hope everyone’s day is going well.

Did some sketching yesterday of an OC (Original Character) I’ve had in mind. She is just known as ‘ The Girl with the Sky in Her Hair’ for right now. If you look at the banner for this blog just above, you’ll see my very first drawing of her. I talk a bit more about it here .

I have a million ideas floating around in my brain for this character right now so look forward to more sketches of her.

Below sketch and lineart.

Frozen’s Elsa and Anna Fanart

Pretty sure everyone knows about Frozen by now and if you don’t, I still sure everyone has heard the song ‘Let It Go‘ from the movie in some form or another. The movie is Disney latest animated feature film about two sisters based loosely on Hans Christian Andersen’s  The Snow Queen and I do mean loosely.

Fun fact, I’m a huge Hans Christian Andersen fan and very fascinated with the Snow Queen fairy tale. I’ve watched the My Life A Fairytale; a movie that told the story of Hans and his many stories which included The Snow Queen and the  2002 Snow Queen movie starring Bridget Fonda a while back .

I’m hoping someone does another film showing the Queen’s true nature. There were a few more other than the ones I mentioned but a modern day one is needed now.

Well, I watched it and quickly liked the two sisters. Elsa moreso because she is the first Disney princess with a magical power, though she didn’t use it enough in my opinion. As for Anna,  she was alot of fun to watch because of her silly and very quirky personality. My favourite character in the show however is Olaf. A snowman singing about summer and bathing in a hot tub really deserves that title.

The movie overall was very pretty and beautifully animated but lacked a bit in the story, which was a bit disappointing.

I’m a huge Tangled fan and that is because the story and the characters all fit and worked well to the overall benefit of the film. Rapunzel and Flynn had a chemistry that for me is hard to match. And it doesn’t help that I am a shameless Flynn fangirl. Also with a villian like Mother Gothel, Prince Hans just does not compare, though he was pretty sleazy.

As for the songs in Frozen, however, they were so catchy. Took me a good four months to get them out of my head and even now if someone says, ‘let it go’ , believe me I will start singing that song. Funny thing is when I had enough of ‘Let It Go’, I moved on to ‘Do You Want To Build A Snowman?’ , ‘Fixer Upper’ and ‘In Summer’. My little sister and I would start each other off  all the time with these songs.

Also, I’m a huge Once Upon A Time fan and for this season’s finale they left us a little present. Let’s just say I was freaking out by the time it was over.

Looks like the Frozen craze isn’t going to be over for a while.

The fanart is to show the bonds these gals had when they were much younger. I love the first couple of  scenes in this movie especially how Anna woke up Elsa to play, reminds me of my little sisters when they will wake me up in the morning.

Thanks for reading.

Trees, Grass and My Patience

I never venture to draw or paint trees or grass as pretty as they are on a sunny day.

Honestly, it is such a challenge for me. Something feels so monotonous about it, after all it is grass. Nonetheless, I really admire those who do and who do it so marvelously.

Since the last piece I did with the sunrise seen here, I wanted to do more nature digital paintings so, I decided to take on what challenges me and try with the green. I googled a few forest pictures to help. I used this one as my reference.

Here is the finished piece:

Practice grass and trees

Practice grass and trees

The grass came out better than I thought it would. Took quite alot of time but I enjoyed doing it in the end. The tree leaves not so much. They didn’t come out how I wanted them too but I’m seeing a style I think I can develop so I don’t feel so bad.

At one point I was bored doing it, I just wanted it to be over. However,  was able to suck it up and stuck it out.

All in all was good practice and practice makesyou … you know the saying.

Take on a challenge, something you usually run away from, and try at it. Even if you fail (I started over this like three times) go at it again. You might surprise yourself and learn something new. Doing this I certainly did.

Digital Painting Practice- A Sunrise

Digital Painting Practice- A Sunrise

Been trying to wake up early for the past few days now and I’ve manage to do so twice this week. Not much but doing this is has always been a challenge for me. However, I refuse to give up.

In doing so I was able to see the sunrise. I’m a crazy person when it comes to a sunset. I adore them. I adore the sky in general.

If you take a look at the main banner for this site you’ll see the girl’s hair is made of the sunset and she is surrounded by the night sky, that has three rainbows running through it.  Being like this you would think waking up early in the morning just to see the sunrise would be a norm for me.

Well, it isn’t. I am not a  morning person. Never really been but after seeing this morning’s sunrise I may have to change that for good.

It was stunning, so bright and vibrant. Felt like I never saw orange so pure and fresh in my life. When the light filtered down through the trees I was so happy that I was up to see it. My little six year old sister was up as well and she too was amazed.

I was so inspired by that I spent a good part of the day looking at sunrise photos and practicing. I had fun doing it and will continue to do others; not necessarily limited to sunrises of course. Sunsets are , afterall, my first love.

Here is the finished piece:

Look for more of these.
